Access to nano tools draws students
Abstract:
One of the key players at the state University at Albany's new College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering isn't a member of the faculty or student body.
It's the costly high-tech equipment used by industry giants like IBM and Infineon and members of International Sematech, a consortium of computer-chip makers.
The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering is considered the first nanocollege in the country. The college's first classes began Aug. 30 with 72 students and 25 faculty members. There are plans to have 75 professors and 500 students by 2010.
