R&D eyes novel, nonvolatile memories at nanoscale
Abstract:
Nanotechnology has the ability to yield a memory chip technology that could replace everything from magnetic disks to DRAMs-at least in theory. R&D projects based on such techniques as carbon nanotubes, molecular electronics and atomic force microscope probe arrays appear to be converging on a universal memory technology and, while still highly speculative, have attracted substantial funding.
