Abstract:
It will soon be possible to weigh individual small molecules with nanoscale sensors, a team of US researchers claims. Kamil Ekinci of Boston University in Massachusetts and co-workers have calculated the ultimate limits to the sensitivity of nanoelectromechanical scales (NEMS mass sensors), and find that they should be capable of registering the weight of a single hydrogen atom.
