Motorola goes to press with new chip technology
Abstract:
Using an innovative technology, Motorola Labs has been printing real-live semiconductors on the same sort of presses used to publish this newspaper, bypassing the traditional silicon fabrication plant. Working under a federal grant over the past four years, the Schaumburg technology company's research and development lab and other major companies have developed a new technology that enables regular presses to print transistors and other electronics the same way books, newspapers and product packages are cranked out today.
