Diehard Diode May Solve Computer Gridlock

Abstract:
Untangling computer chips that are "worse than the Los Angeles freeway, with wires running back and forth clogging the path of propagating signals," is the goal of Ohio State University electrical engineering and physics professor Paul Berger. "At some point, things are going to come to a grinding halt, and chips won't run any faster," Berger told NewsFactor. To unlock this potential computer gridlock, Berger and his research team designed a new diode that transmits more electricity than any other device of its kind. (more on earlier article)
