Abstract:
Logic operations in circuits of nanoscale transistors that pass electrons one by one have been demonstrated by researchers in Japan. These single-electron logic circuits potentially combine very high integration densities (many devices in a small area) with very low power consumption, as the single-electron currents are just about as small as they could possibly be.
