DNA expands its net
Abstract:
A two-dimensional grid made from DNA has been fitted with motor units that extend and contract when powered by DNA fuel, altering the grid size. A nanoscale DNA mesh that can be expanded and contracted has been constructed by researchers at Duke University in North Carolina, USA. The mesh is woven from DNA 'nanoactuator' strands that extend reversibly when driven by a kind of DNA fuel.
