Shifting Molecules

Abstract:
In recent years some promising research has suggested that the surface properties of materials can be controlled at the molecular level. The ability to control surface properties would be useful to the futuristic combat gear being developed at MIT, since it would enable the creation of fabrics that could instantly treat injuries such as broken bones or hemorrhages. The Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies' Team 04 has already reported a breakthrough in switchable surfaces.
