Nanotech puts tiny chips in reach
Abstract:
Nanotechnology is making so much progress that it may be possible to create tiny chips with wires that are one-thirtieth the size of today's chips within three to five years. `We're really beginning to be able to manipulate things at the bottom'' of the atomic scale, Andre DeHon, an assistant professor of computer science at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, said in a presentation at the Hot Chips conference at Stanford University. ``We have all the technology that we need to build a nanoscale memory or system.''
