Nanosprings jump into place
Abstract:
Researchers from Washington State University and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, both in the US, have accidentally discovered a way of making helical silica nanosprings. The springs could have applications in composites, and nanomechanical and nanoelectromagnetic devices.
