Home > Press > SouthWest NanoTechnologies Names NanoSperse as A SWeNT Certified Compounder
Abstract:
SouthWest NanoTechnologies (SWeNT) announced today that it has named NanoSperse, Inc. in Kettering, Ohio, as a "SWeNT Certified Compounder" for its line of SMWTM Specialty Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) products, with specific emphasis on elastomer and thermoset-resin compounds and aerospace market applications.
SWeNT's SMW materials yield dramatic improvements in thermal and/or electrical conductivity and mechanical strength in composite systems with a wide range of industrial polymers, resins and elastomers. SWeNT's Certified Compounder Program recognizes the outstanding proficiency of select partners in compounding SMW CNTs with such materials to create advanced composites for commercial applications.
"We are very pleased to confer SWeNT Certified Compounder status on NanoSperse," said SWeNT CEO Dave Arthur. "We believe they have what it takes to use our SMW materials to their full potential. The work they're doing incorporating nanotubes into elastomers and thermoset resins is impressive, and will result in a new class of leading-edge, nano-composite solutions."
NanoSperse is developing a broad line of high-performance compounds including masterbatch, based on SWeNT's SMW carbon nanotubes.
According to Art Fritts, president of NanoSperse, "Markets today are demanding new and better composites, with increased strength, reduced weight, and, increasingly, augmented electrical and thermal conductivity. For some time, our customers have recognized the potential of carbon nanotubes as additives to meet these challenges, and the commitment by SWeNT to produce best-in-breed CNTs is an important development. Our testing and that of our customers has shown that SWeNT SMW CNTs meet or exceed performance of current commercial products. NanoSperse is pleased to assist SWeNT and their customers by providing fully incorporated, high-quality masterbatches of SWeNT products to meet new advanced materials challenges across aerospace, space, medical and industrial applications."
