Abstract:
Iran is due to present a second nano drug to domestic markets after the product received the approval of the Iranian Health Ministry's Nanotechnology Committee.
The medicine, containing nanographite, has been produced under the title Carboncelium Complex by one of the Iranian companies, and it has applications as topical ointment in burn wounds.
After passing the preliminary production stages and acquiring basic approvals from Food and Medicine Organization of the Health Ministry, the medicine was finally evaluated in Nanotechnology Committee of Food and Medicine Organization after the approval of clinical studies. Taking into consideration the documents presented about the use of nanotechnology in the production of the medicine and its significant effect in clinical studies, the medicine was allowed to be used by the public according to the approval of the Legal Commission of Medicine Department of the Health Ministry.
The medicine will be soon presented to the drug stores and hospitals across the country in order to be consumed.
Rezayat, the head of the Nanotechnology Commission of Food and Medicine Organization, confirmed that the medicine has succeeded in obtaining the approval of the commission.
According to Rezayat, this valuable research is the result of the cooperation and synergy between Food and Medicine Organization and Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council.
According to him, files are open in this Committee for about 100 products, among which 50 are currently completing the documents required for obtaining the permission. Half of the abovementioned products are related to devices and equipment, 20 are classified in cosmetics and hygienic group, and nine are related to medicine group.
"The permission for the entrance of 13 products to the market has so far been issued, and the specialists of the Committee periodically visit the producing companies," Rezayat said.
