Nano Official Downplays Effects of Sanctions on Development of Iran's Nanotechnology

Tehran, Iran | Posted on October 29th, 2012

"Sanctions have failed to disturb the development of nanotechnology in the country, rather a number of (Iran-made) nano equipments are exported to other countries," Head of INIC's Department for Development of Human Resources Seyed Mehdi Rezayat told FNA on Monday.

"Today nearly 20 companies in Iran manufacture the equipment needed in nanotechnology," he said, adding that the country is now able to build 14 systems used in nanotechnology, some of which are exported to other states.

Rezayat had also earlier this month said that due to the existence of a large number of Iranian experts and active bodies in the field of nanotechnology, the growth of the new science is guaranteed in the country.

"There exist over 15,000 nanotechnology experts and specialists at levels of MSc and higher education levels aw well as active bodies in the field of business. It means that nanotechnology has been guaranteed in our country," he stated, addressing the Fifth Iran Nano Exhibition held in Iran from October 4 to 8.

Pointing to the participant companies in the Fifth Iran Nano Festival, Rezayat said, "A noticeable number of participating companies in this festival, especially in the field of business and production, had participated in previous year's festival too. However, the difference is that the participation of the companies is accompanied with the presentation of products. In other words, it means that the companies have succeeded in selling their products in the competitive market."
