Iran's World Ranking of Contribution to Nano Sciences Improves

Tehran, Iran | Posted on September 18th, 2012

"Today, I am honored to let you know that six Asian nations, including Iran, are placed among top 12 world leading countries in nanotechnology knowledge production," Dr. Sarkar said, addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 4th International Congress on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICNN2012).

He also underlined the fact that the superiority in knowledge production is shifting from the West toward the East.

Dr. Sarkar described the improvement of Iran's rank in the mentioned field, from the 59th position in 2000 to 9th in 2012, as a spectacular success, and said that the country is determined to join the world's top 5 leading powers in nanotechnology by putting more effort into research and innovation.

Also, Head of Iran's Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Institute Dr. Mohammad Hossein Majles Ara acknowledged Iran's significant scientific growth, and reiterated that the country shall focus on conversion of knowledge to wealth as a second phase of progress.

President of the University of Kashan Dr. Abbas Ketabi, for his part, briefed the audience on the nanotechnology-related scholarly activities of the University of Kashan over the past few years, and termed "the transfer of science to technology" the current main goal of the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Research Center of the university.

The ICNN2012 was held in the University of Kashan from September 8 to 10.
