Abstract:
XTI-360™ Active-Shield nanocoating offers the most powerful protection against noroviruses and other highly contagious, hard to kill contact-transmitted germs on cruise ships, long-term care facilities, hospitals, schools, and other semi-closed environments.

CLEANCOATING Announces XTIO2 Inc’s XTI-360 Anti-Germ Nanocoating as the Best Sustainable Protection against Norovirus Outbreaks on Cruise Ships

Philadelphia, PA | Posted on March 22nd, 2012

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned of widespread norovirus outbreaks on cruise lines: 7 norovirus outbreaks have sickened 1,422 passengers and 151 crew members already in 2012. In 2011 there were 14 outbreaks on cruise ships.

Norovirus is highly contagious, causing vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, fever and body aches, being the leading cause of foodborne-disease outbreaks in the United States, killing 300 people annually.

Norovirus spreads through contaminated food or water, by touching contaminated surfaces, and from person to person. Noroviruses can survive for weeks on surfaces, and up to 12 days on fabrics.

A study by North Carolina State University found the virus on surfaces used for food preparation 7 days after contamination.

The world-exclusive XTI-360™ Active-Shield nanocoating destroys cold viruses, deadly E.coli and MRSA bacteria, and other germs like noroviruses on surfaces with the world's highest germ-killing power of 99.999% proven by SGS tests on coated materials: ceramic, ABS-plastic and fabrics. The binderless XTI-solution contains only ultra-pure water (99%) and titanium-dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (1%). It is SAFE for consumers and the only 100% GREEN product of its kind.

"Contact-transmitted noroviruses are hard to kill. Getting sick in the middle of the ocean can be fatal. XTI-360 nanocoating provides the most powerful sustainable protection," stated Michael Holbert, President of Cleancoating LLC.

Current vessel sanitation programs are ineffective relying on harsh chemicals like chlorine-based disinfectants, which release toxic fumes and leave behind dead pathogenic bacteria.

Certified by International Self-Powered Building Council (ISPBC), XTI-360 Active-Shield is a green building nanocoating technology, and the best preventive measure against germs and VOCs on interior surfaces - walls/ceilings/carpets/curtains/furniture/air-ducts&filters/tiles/linens to protect the health of consumers.
