SAFENANO is today pleased to announce the re-launch of its website - www.safenano.org

SAFENANO Nanotechnology Safety website re-launch: www.safenano.org: Europe’s Centre of Excellence in Nanotechnology Safety

Edinburgh, UK | Posted on July 20th, 2011

Following extensive consultation and re-design, the new SAFENANO website offers a wealth of up-to-date information of value to industry, researchers, policy makers and the wider public in addressing nanotechnology safety issues:

SAFENANO Knowledge Base disseminates emerging scientific evidence through news and events pages, feature articles, and an updated resources section containing key links, recommended reading lists and a comprehensive nano-glossary. New features include dedicated information on current guidance, regulation and standards, and an updated version of the popular monthly SAFENANO bulletin.

SAFENANO Scientific Services provides expertise in exposure measurement, toxicology, occupational hygiene, risk assessment and training for industry, researchers and policy makers. Technical briefings, service brochures and our Nanosafety Test are also available for download to assist those in the field to understand and consider options for controlling potential risks.

SAFENANO Research showcases our recent and ongoing work, which encompasses the development, evaluation and dissemination of new knowledge in nanotoxicology, exposure and risk management and demonstrates how we support nanotechnology innovation.

SAFENANO is now Europe's Centre of Excellence on Nanotechnology Hazard and Risk, a transition which has been made based on our ongoing provision of the highest quality information and consultancy services to clients and stakeholders.

Rob Aitken, Director of SAFENANO said "Five years on from the original launch of the SAFENANO website, the landscape in relation to nanotechnology risk issues has changed beyond all recognition. An enormous body of work is underway addressing, hazard, exposure and risk through research programmes, government and regulatory activities, industrial projects and standardisation".

"The need for clear informed assessment of the issues and their consequences is greater than ever. Provision of this has been core to our mission since SAFENANO's inception. With the benefits it brings to the nanotechnology community, we are delighted to launch the new SAFENANO website to address this need."
