NT-MDT Co. announces that NANOEDUCATOR II - a new generation of training scientific laboratories for nanotechnology teaching - is the winner of the 49th Annual R&D 100 Awards, which salute the 100 most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace over the past year.

NANOEDUCATOR II is a highly competent, high stability mid-range atomic force (AFM) / scanning tunneling microscope (STM) built for high schools and universities. This specific microscope aims to bring the practical scientific experience to the High School, Junior College, and University classrooms as well as to professional training, allowing students to directly investigate nanobjects such as carbon nanotubes and DNA, and nanostructures such as magnetic domains in hard-drives. In addition, it opens the world of nanoprocesses such as nanomanipulation and nanolithography; and can also be used in scientific research purposes besides the educational needs.

Key applications include:

Biology (cells, viruses, bacteria, DNA)
Material sciences (metals, semiconductors, dielectrics, polymers, photovoltaic cells)
Data storage devices (hard-drives, CDs)
Micro- and nano-structures (gratings, self-organizing systems such as Langmuir-Blodgett films)

AFM nanolithography

NANOEDUCATOR II can work in WinXP® and Mac OS®. The training scientific SPM includes a special applet for the Mac version which allows it to communicate directly with iPhones, iPads, and iPods.

R&D 100 Award is the third award of NT-MDT Co. NTEGRA Spectra (AFM / CONFOCAL RAMAN & FLUORESCENCE / SNOM / TERS) won the prestigious R&D 100 Award in 2006, fully automated SPM SOLVER NEXT became the winner in 2009.

The R&D 100 Awards have long been a benchmark of excellence for industry sectors as diverse as telecommunications, high-energy physics, software, manufacturing, and biotechnology.
