Research and Markets: Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy: Analytical, Biophysical and Life Science Applications

Dublin, Ireland | Posted on April 15th, 2011

Covering everything from new developments in the field to established techniques with a focus on biochemical applications, this monograph shows how to analyze surface characteristics right down to single molecules.

From the contents:

* Theory and practice of available SERS substrates
* Analytical applications
* SERS combined with other analytical techniques
* Biophysical applications
* Microscopic applications and related techniques

Hands-on knowledge for analytical, surface and medicinal chemists, spectroscopists, biophysicists and materials scientists.

Key Topics Covered:

1 Basic Electromagnetic Theory of SERS (Pablo G. Etchegoin and Eric C. Le Ru).

2 Nanoparticle SERS Substrates (Yuling Wang and Erkang Wang).

3 Quantitative SERS Methods (Steven E.J. Bell and Alan Stewart).

4 Single-Molecule- and Trace Detection by SERS (Nicholas P.W. Pieczonka, Golam Moula, Adam R. Skarbek, and Ricardo F. Aroca).

5 Detection of Persistent Organic Pollutants by Using SERS Sensors Based on Organically Functionalized Ag Nanoparticles (Luca Guerrini, Patricio Leyton, Marcelo Campos-Vallette, Concepcin Domingo, Jos V. Garcia-Ramos, and Santiago Sanchez-Cortes).

6 SERS and Pharmaceuticals (Simona Cnt Pnzaru and Ioana E. Pavel).

7 SERS and Separation Science (Alison J. Hobro and Bernhard Lendl).

8 SERS and Microfluidics (Thomas Henkel, Anne Mrz, and Jrgen Popp).

9 Electrochemical SERS and its Application in Analytical, Biophysical and Life Science (Bin Ren, Yan Cui, De-Yin Wu, and Zhong-Qun Tian).

10 Electron Transfer of Proteins at Membrane Models (Peter Hildebrandt, Jiu-Ju Feng, Anja Kranich, Khoa H. Ly, Diego F. Martn, Marcelo Mart, Daniel H. Murgida, Damin A. Paggi, Nattawadee Wisitruangsakul, Murat Sezer, Inez M. Weidinger, and Ingo Zebger).

11 Quantitative DNA Analysis Using Surface-Enhanced Resonance Raman Scattering (Ross Stevenson, Karen Faulds, and Duncan Graham).

12 SERS Microscopy: Nanoparticle Probes and Biomedical Applications (Sebastian Schlcker).

13 1-P and 2-P Excited SERS as Intracellular Probe (Janina Kneipp).

14 Surface- and Tip-Enhanced CARS (Taro Ichimura and Satoshi Kawata).

Author:

Sebastian Schlucker obtained his undergraduate and PhD degrees at the University of Wurzburg, Germany. After a postdoctoral stay at the US National Insitute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland, USA from 2002 till 2004, he completed his habilitation in 2006 at the University of Wurzburg. He has been Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Osnabruck, Germany since 2008.
