Abstract:
The 6th annual Micro Nano Breakthrough Conference (Portland, OR; September 21-23, 2009 www.micronbc.org) and Oregon BEST (oregonbest.org) are pleased to announce a full-day Solar Materials Symposium as a new short-course option this year.

Micro Nano Breakthrough Conference (MNBC) & Oregon Built Environment & Sustainable Technologies Center (Oregon BEST) presents Solar Materials Symposium Monday, September 21, 2009

Portland, OR | Posted on July 20th, 2009

The hottest region in the North America for investment in solar manufacturing is the Pacific Northwest, and significant installations, including a 75MW plant east of Seattle, continue to be announced. The Solar Materials Symposium is a unique opportunity to learn more about the opportunities in the technologies underlying this key emerging industry.

Two mixed research/industry panels will discuss problems and perspectives surrounding current PV materials and the exciting potential of new nano/micro PV technologies. Oregon BEST will also highlight the results of an Oregon-wide inventory of university solar research assets. The Oregon BEST Solar Materials Symposium is a must-attend event for solar material researchers and industry representatives.

Keynote speakers at the symposium include Dr. Nate Lewis of Caltech on a "Global Energy Perspective" and Dr. Jessika Trancik of MIT on "Nanostructured Porous Materials for Low Carbon Energy Conversion". Program information is at oregonstate.edu/conferences/MNBC/solar.html and speaker bios are at oregonstate.edu/conferences/MNBC/speakerbios.html

Admission to the Solar Materials Symposium is included with registration for the Micro Nano Breakthrough Conference. The MNBC, co-hosted by the Washington Technology Center (www.watechcenter.org) and Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute (www.onami.us), is widely considered the best event of its kind in the United States. The full conference program is at oregonstate.edu/conferences/MNBC/MNBC09_Program.pdf
