Nanomedicine will change the world

Vienna, Austria | Posted on October 14th, 2008

Nanomedicine is a subfield of nanotechnology directed towards medicine. What this means is that nanotechnology standards are being used and applied to humans in order to control it's biological systems. There are a few areas of medicine which are nanomedicine's main research ground: disease treatment, drug delivery and diagnostics.

Cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and many other heavy diseases for which there is no cure are constantly being researched in the hope of finding the cure. Drug delivery is a very important part of nanomedicine's research. In simple terms, drug delivery is all about increasing drug's bioavailability. Diagnostics in medicine is very important. Detect a disease in it's early stage is crucial and that's where nanomedicine steps in.

Progress has been made in all areas of research. Most of them are still in the development stages, but it won't take long until they reach clinical phases.

"Imagine a world where every disease can be detected in it's very early stage, a world where every disease can be cured. That's the world nanomedicine will bring to all of us." says Mr. Redford of nanomedicinecenter.com.
