Scientists Create An Invisible Power
Abstract:
News that scientists in the US have created a system which can wrap around objects and make them invisible has caught the eye of technology buffs around the world. While this is not the first system created to make objects become ‘invisible' it is the first time it has been tested and actually worked on 3-D objects.
Researchers funded by the Pentagon - so no prizes for guessing where we will see the system used - have managed to create a prism which bends light the ‘wrong' way resulting in the objects disappearing from sight. While the process is not possible with naturally occurring elements, the use of nanotechnology and manmade fibres to create a fishnet structure - affectively an invisible cloak - opens up a vast array of different uses.
As the Pentagon has funded the research it seems inevitable that it will be pushed into the military sector as soon as possible giving US forces the ultimate cover. Not only can it be used to wrap around humans and make them invisible but a system is being developed which can wrap around tanks, planes, armoured vehicles and much more.
