The Nano Renewable Energy Summit is a gathering of world-renowned experts at the intersection of renewable energy and nanotechnology. The specific focus is on the business, commercialization and economic development potential of emerging technologies in the renewable energy and sustainability sectors.
"I am pleased to welcome the Nano Renewable Energy Summit to Denver this July, co-hosted by the NanoBusiness Alliance, the Colorado Nanotechnology Alliance, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and others. This Summit will highlight the importance of nanotechnologies around the world while allowing us to showcase Colorado's emerging New Energy Economy," said Colorado Governor Bill Ritter.
"We have been exploring opportunities for a second NanoBusiness Alliance Conference for the past 5 years, and have determined that Denver is the perfect city for Nanotechnology as it relates to renewable energy," said Vincent Caprio, NanoBusiness Alliance Vice President and Event Director. "2008 is the year of change in America, and renewable energy is a critically important issue, being discussed both at home and in corporate board rooms."
The Summit is being produced by the NanoBusiness Alliance and co-hosted by the Colorado Nanotechnology Alliance in conjunction with the Golden, Colorado-based National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Partners and sponsors include the NanoBusiness Alliance, Colorado NanoBusiness Alliance, NREL, Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade, Patton Boggs, and the University of Denver.
"NREL's nanoscience research aims to provide the underpinnings for revolutionary technologies to produce and store renewable energy in ways that are more efficient and less expensive," said Dr. Ray Stults, Associate Laboratory Director for Energy Sciences, National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
"Colorado is the major hub of renewable energy development in the U.S. with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), its high concentration of advanced tech, renewable energy and oil and gas companies, and major universities. The Governor and state leadership is committed to renewable energy as one of its major priorities to position Colorado as a leader in this industry," said Debbie Woodward, Executive Director, Colorado Nanotechnology Alliance. "This business summit will be an incredible opportunity to showcase how nanotechnology will play an integral role in building our energy solutions for our future."
