IISc scholar commits suicide
Abstract:
A 24-year-old research scholar from Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu studying at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore committed suicide last week.
Reports said that R Chitra was travelling by bus from Bangalore to Cuddalore when she began vomiting at the Hosur road. Bus passengers rushed her to a nearby hospital where she died.
Police said: "We suspect that she consumed poison and are waiting for an autopsy."
The IISc faculty is puzzled over the death of the brilliant student who was among 14 nanotechnology researchers. She has also won several scholarships.
