Subliminal Atomic Flight
Abstract:
We currently live in an electronic world, wherein it is difficult to think of life without the telephone, personal computer, and similar electronic devices. Looking ahead, let us now think of the nanoworld. Imagine sitting in a chair that self-adjusts the contours to suit your posture; or wearing a shirt that measures your body temperature and heart rate and self-adjusts the tightness of the weave according to the ambient temperature; or even looking through your office window that self-adjusts the transparency to maintain a good interior light level and changes the colour to suit your mood.
All these and more might be possible when we live in a 'world of nanotechnology' or nanoworld. Though many products have been developed in laboratories both in India and abroad, most of them are still at the concept level. Among the products based on nanomaterials are light-emitting diodes, which are becoming more efficient and thinner with the use of nanolayers that include various nano-deposition techniques developed recently.
