Rahall Secures $2.6 Million for High-Tech Defense Projects in Hinton; Will Create Up to 15 New Mantech Jobs
Abstract:
Of the monies Rahall secured, $1 million will provide for a joint U.S. Army/Marine Corps Nanotechnology Corrosion Support program. According to Mantech, the Department of Defense spends billions of dollars annually combating corrosion. This initiative will create a roadmap to guide the U.S. military logistics community in the emerging field of nanotechnology (the control of matter on a scale smaller than 1 micrometer) for use in materials and coatings specifically designed to mitigate corrosion. The program seeks to increase awareness of the potential of nanotechnology and how it can be applied to existing military corrosion problems.
