No more jabs, oral insulin for diabetics
Abstract:
There is good news for diabetics on insulin therapy. Diabetic patients in India will for the first time have a 'needle-free' option — oral spray — with the government clearing the sale of non-injectable buccal (oral) insulin in India.
At present, a host of companies are working on new ways of delivering insulin, including oral, transdermal and nanotechnology-based.
Non-injectable insulin will revolutionise the lives of countless diabetics and improve diabetes control, as the idea of injection deters many sufferers from taking the insulin they need.
