Nanoparticles to the rescue

Abstract:
The consortium, a joint effort led by Dr. Linda Pilarski and Dr. Chris Backhouse, has already enjoyed some success - reducing the cost of the test for the presence of cancer cells tenfold, from about $2,000 to $200.

Dr. Pilarski says that means such testing may eventually become much more widespread.

"It could perhaps be available at local health centres," she said.

"That could mean big benefits for patients and the health-care system."
