Exhibit puts science under the microscope
Abstract:
Through the Appleton Art Center's exhibit "ArtSCIENCE," microscopic details of laboratory research and even a few experiments gone awry have found a temporary home in the public eye.
On display through Nov. 12 in the center's Dietrich and Reigel galleries are more than 25 works of art that represent fields such as medical engineering, industrial science and nanotechnology.
The art works are scanning electron micrographs and digital images of structures that typically are invisible to the naked eye: cells in the human body, carbon fibers in the shape of a 3-dimensional Bucky Badger; flaws in glass and images from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope.
