![]() |
Abstract:
The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) will host the 2008 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and BioProcessing on April 27-30 at the Hilton Chicago in Chicago, Ill. Leaders from the biotechnology, chemical and agricultural industries will join with government officials, investors and academics for the fifth annual conference. The conference Web site can be accessed at http://www.bio.org/worldcongress2008/ .
The World Congress is the only conference dedicated solely to industrial biotechnology and the most recent advancements in the field.
"Chicago is an ideal venue for the biofuel industry, the dynamic nature of the location and ease of international access make it an obvious choice," said Brent Erickson, executive vice president of the Industrial & Environmental Section at BIO.
Previous plenary speakers at the World Congress have included Sun Microsystems founder and venture capital guru Vinod Khosla, Richard Zalesky of Chevron Technology Ventures, Justin Adams from BP, author Paul Roberts, former Iowa Governor Thomas J. Vilsack, and futurist Richard Worzel. Discussion topics at previous conferences have included ethanol, marine biotechnology, nanotechnology and biofuels.
The 2008 World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and BioProcessing will be co-hosted by the American Chemical Society and the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council.
