Nanoscience Grants Given To Colleges

Abstract:
Gov. Mike Beebe released funding this week to support nanoscience and plant research at three Arkansas universities that could spawn knowledge and technology-based jobs for the state.

The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro were selected by the Arkansas Science and Technology Authority, which could get up to $9 million over three years from the National Science Foundation, to receive the money for research.

The money is contingent upon state matching funds. Beebe on Wednesday authorized the release of $1.5 million from the Accelerate Arkansas funds to match the first $3 million from the National Science Foundation.
