Aviation technology takes off
Abstract:
Using nanotechnology techniques to improve surfaces, making them resistant to ice accumulation. Margaret Blohm, advanced technology program leader, demonstrated how surfaces could be engineered to resist water and other liquids, making them "superhydrophobic," she said.
Her team of researchers is exploring ways to reduce ice adhesion, potentially preventing ice building on aircraft surfaces.
