Abstract:
Over five days starting on Sunday, hundreds of people representing laboratories, high-tech companies, and government agencies will gather in Melbourne at the 12th International COMS conference on micro and nanotechnologies. It's the first time the event has been held in the Asia-Pacific region.
Though the focus is on commercialisation of these technologies, there will also be discussion of ethical and risk factors, and a special emphasis on education. Clive Davenport, president of the foundation hosting the conference, says this breadth is a reflection of how extensive the impacts of nanotechnology are likely to be.
