Prof. Batra: Remembering a great man and mentor
Abstract:
Batra worked alongside Nobel laureates and theorists and published over 200 technical papers, many involving his ideas on nanoscience. After decades with IBM, Batra went on to become head of the physics department at UIC, and he became a full professor in 2004.
"Inder's colleagues and students will feel most directly the great loss to UIC," said UIC Chancellor Sylvia Manning.
"The academic community has lost a brilliant mind and a kind heart. Prof. Batra was an enthusiastic professor and mentor who would spend as much time as was necessary to help any student who came to his office. He touched many lives on campus and will be missed," said Stephen Garner, Mechanical Engineering Graduate student.
