The LSM 5 EXCITER provides users in the materials research and quality analysis industries with a microscope system that analyzes relatively soft materials like polymers in a non-contact procedure with high measuring accuracy and resolution.

By employing a non-contact confocal technique, users can visualize and measure 2-D and 3-D topographies, determine roughness and waviness, and measure porosity and volume content with a high degree of quality and reliability. Additionally, the possibility of working both in reflected and fluorescent light expands the flexibility of analytical techniques.

The microscope's StitchArt plus option allows for extra-long line profiles or image stack arrays that extend over more than 800 times the size of the scan field to be captured automatically with variable overlapping areas. Numerous other automated processes and adjusting functions are an integral part of the StitchArt plus option as well. These functions include autofocus, automatic contrast and brightness optimization, and the precise, first-order correction of the objective's residual field curvature.

The LSM 5 EXCITER can be precisely tailored to meet each user's specific requirements and can be combined with three different high-end microscopes, including the Axio Imager and Axio Observer microscopes. Additionally, optional Piezo-technology and nanometer scaling allow fast and exact measurements.
