Businesses grow with Angels' help

Abstract:
Would-be entrepreneurs and startup businesses with million-dollar ideas have an angel just waiting to meet them.

Bloomfield Hills-based Great Lakes Angels is eagerly looking for companies interested in earning their wings.

Great Lakes Angels is composed of high net-worth individuals who make financial as well as intellectual investments in early-stage companies. These are businesses that tend to be deep within the research-and-development phase and are looking for extra cash to help them become commercial success stories.

Investments vary among industries including energy, life sciences, telecommunications, transportation and nanotechnology. The group tends to avoid lifestyle, family-owned, real-estate or retail businesses, Weaver said.
