PEABODY, MA | Posted on July 17th, 2007

In a move that brings the leadership of an experienced industry veteran to the position of Vice President Sales and Service for North America, Carl Zeiss SMT Inc. today announced the appointment of Daniel McGee to this post.

McGee brings over 28 years of experience in the semiconductor and industrial capital equipment business to Carl Zeiss SMT. With outstanding career steps at Varian Semiconductor and Tencor, Dan most recently held the position of Vice President IBM Global Alliance at KLA-Tencor. There, he had responsibility for all sales, service, technical and marketing activities supporting IBM Microelectronics and the development activities of its alliance partners: AMD, Chartered, Samsung, and Infineon. Prior to that, he managed KLA-Tencor's field operations in the Midwest, Eastern U.S. and Canada.

McGee, who will be directly reporting to Frank Averdung, President and General Manager of Carl Zeiss SMT Inc., will concentrate on optimizing all aspects of customer satisfaction in North America. A particular focus will be further expansion of Carl Zeiss SMT's market presence and support of its growth plan.

"We are very pleased to have Dan join the Carl Zeiss SMT team here in Peabody, Massachusetts," said Averdung. "His experience and expertise will bring new emphasis and creative programs to our initiatives regarding customer satisfaction and growth. We very much look forward to Dan's personal contribution and his proven leadership. In particular, his experience with semiconductor customers will help us to accelerate market adoption of our revolutionary new Helium ion microscopy technology in the U.S."
