UK small cap of the week - Oxonica
Abstract:
Shares in nanotechnology firm Oxonica Plc (OXN.L: Quote, Profile , Research) soared 166 percent last week, as retail investors spotted a potential bargain following a 70-percent crash earlier this month after product trials disappointed, traders said.
The rollercoaster shares, which have a 30-day historic volatility of 306 percent, were the top performer among the FTSE Small Cap <.FTSC> and FTSE AIM All Share <.FTAIM) stocks, but ended their rally on Monday, falling around 17 percent on profit taking, traders said.
"The stock is very much driven by private investors as there are hardly any institutional shareholders in the company any more and the free float is very limited," an analyst, who wished to remain unnamed, said.
