Abstract:
Biometric Solutions for Secure Virtual Contact Center
Dimension Data Germany, a worldleadingIT service provider, and Linz-based NANOIDENT Biometrics GmbH, a leading provider of multimodal biometric hardware and software solutions, today announced an
exclusive partnership. Through this agreement, Dimension Data is now the exclusive German distributor of NANOIDENT's multimodal biometric security solutions for corporate home offices. Dimension Data will also provide installation services and configuration for customer-specific applications. In connection with this agreement, Dimension Data was able to secure a pilot project with a large global bank in Germany and successfully implement this highly scalable and cost-effective multimodal technology.
NANOIDENT Biometrics GmbH is the world's leading company in the development of
printed semiconductor-based multimodal biometric sensors. NANOIDENT Biometrics offers
the industry's most reliable and secure biometric solutions, with multimodal sensor
hardware and unmatched biometric software algorithms, to support a wide range of
biometric trait recognition including face, voice and lip movement, iris, fingerprint, skin
tissue structure, vein patterns and palm. This unique multimodal biometric solution
ensures the greatest recognition accuracy and fraud resistance. With this biometric security
solution, companies gain enormous cost-savings potential through the deployment of
security-critical applications in laptop and PC-based home offices. At the same time,
NANOIDENT's technology can protect companies against the constantly increasing risk of
identity theft, a widespread problem with traditional security methods such as passwords
or PIN numbers.
NANOIDENT's technology is especially suited to security-critical applications, for instance in
home offices, which are increasingly common in organizations such as banks and insurance
companies. Dimension Data has integrated this technology into their new Mobile Secure
Client solution where it can be used to connect service agents in the financial services
industry with virtual contact center environments. Simultaneous verification of several
biometric traits such as facial features and voice and lip movement, ensure secure identity
and access management for sensitive data and applications.
During the use of a workstation, NANOIDENT's technology allows the biometric properties
of the face to be scanned with a webcam. If the user leaves the field of view, all
applications are immediately locked out. Repeat access can only be granted when the user
logs back in and the biometric solution recognizes the user again. The Mobile Secure Client
is a complete integrated solution because it combines this biometric solution with mobile
IP telephones and data processing in the form of a specially configured laptop. This allows
the IT service provider to offer interested companies a mobile, individually secure,
standardized home office infrastructure for a fixed monthly price per user. A standard,
commercially available Web cam minimizes the costs of this package solution. This offering
allows companies to implement strict security policies equally for home offices and in the
existing organization, in order to provide flexible but secure access between service agents
in home offices and their virtual contact centers.
"The cooperation with NANOIDENT gives us the opportunity to offer our customers robust
solutions to support their corporate-wide identity and access management programs," said
Axel Moddemann, director of sales and solutions, Dimension Data. "The combination of our
Mobile Secure Client solution with the biometric solution from NANOIDENT enables
greater flexibility in the workplace and offers companies in all industries new possibilities
through the virtualization of business processes. This solution is scaleable for any number
of users and has individually configurable security settings."
The advantages of such an integrated solution persuaded a large international banking
customer to sign up for a pilot project. The success to date of this solution has led to the
possibility of a worldwide deployment. Dimension Data has delivered a full-service
implementation, from planning through to the help desk, the IT service provider, together
with NANOIDENT, offers customers the full range of its extensive distribution and support
network. The concept developed within the frame of this pilot project will be developed
into a standardized security solution. Along with business and branch-specific consulting,
the IT service provider will be able to offer its customers greater flexibility and
transparency regarding IT security and costs.
"Partnering with a leading IT specialist and integrator like Dimension Data marks a major
milestone for the successful commercialization of our technology and illustrates the
growing need for multimodal biometric security and identification solutions in the
enterprise," said Klaus Schroeter, CEO, NANOIDENT Technologies AG. "The solution that we
are providing to Dimension Data is changing the game. As the workforce in large
corporations continues to become more global and mobile, multimodal biometrics will be
the preferred security method to ensure the safety of valuable enterprise information."
"Our customers include some of the most recognized names in the Fortune 100 and they
are turning to Dimension Data for the latest innovations in network security," said Herbert
Bockers, CEO, Dimension Data Germany. "NANOIDENT Biometrics offers us the integration
of a truly unique solution that revolutionizes the capabilities of information and network
security standards. And yet it does this in a way that is practical for a large enterprise and
can be economically implemented. The combination of our distribution and support
network with NANOIDENT's technology will make it possible for both companies to realize
new synergies and to tap new business potential. We look forward to bringing these
exciting multimodal biometric applications to the market."
