Number 2? Not just yet
Abstract:
"My opinion is that at the end of the day there is greater capital efficiency here, with free movement of money, goods, and people—which I personally think is a good thing," says Parker. It boils down to the fact that the US can better leverage the wealth it has. What's more, Parker questions whether the future will look like the past. "You can now buy a machine to essentially make wine for you, and with nanotechnology, desktop milling machines, and 3D printers, it may be that much of what we have thought of as manufacturing will change to something quite different," he says. And if you add in the increased cost of moving finished goods due to rising petroleum prices, it may be that even more of the value-added processes will stay here in the future.
