NSTI Announces Winners of Nanotech Ventures Awards at Nanotech 2007 in Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, CA | Posted on May 21st, 2007

The Nano Science and Technology Institute (NSTI) today announced the winners for the Nanotech Ventures Awards for 2007. Nanotech Ventures 2007 takes place May 22nd and 23rd at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The three winning companies were selected to receive the awards by a review team comprised of members of the Nanotech Ventures Executive Committee and the Advisory Board.

"Nanotech Ventures 2007 Company Review provides an ideal forum for seed to early-stage companies to showcase their technologies, market advantages, and to search for funding plus 'go-to-market' partners," said Bart Romanowicz, Executive Director of the Nano Science & Technology Institute, producers of the event. "Over 100 early stage companies submitted their business plans into the event. The vetted companies will be given 10 minutes to present and address on-site feedback from Nanotech Ventures Vetting Team."

This year's team includes representatives from such firms as: Ford Motor, IBM, Merck, BASF, Novartis, UCLA, P&G, ExxonMobil, Motorola, Stanford University, Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Goodrich, Sanyo, NanoDimension, Garage Ventures, Chevron, Medtronic, DuPont, In-Q-Tel and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

The goal of the Early Stage Review event is to unite early stage public and pre-IPO small-technology products and intellectual property (IP) with industrial users, funding sources, technology providers and the media and analysts community. This venue will be used to promote the global commercial maturation across the nanotechnology landscape, from technology to products.

All presenting companies were clustered by industry area including: Health & Medical, Biotech, Electronics, Energy, Sensors, Instrumentation, Materials, Chemicals, Food and Personal Care.

"This year's awards went to: Sweet Power, Inc. in the Health & Medical category, Silk Displays, Inc. for Materials and NanoLambda in Electronics," said William Prendergast, Chair of the Nanotechnology Practice Group at Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione. "We were very pleased to sponsor this year's venture competition and excited to be presenting the awards to the nanotechnology winners."

The conference and presentations will be held May 22-23rd at the Santa Clara Convention Center. To learn more, go to http://www.nsti.org/Nanotech2007/Development/ .
