City gets wake-up call on economy
Abstract:
Debbage said he thinks business leaders have a good plan that will improve the economy. That plan includes finding land that's developed and ready for companies that want to move here, supporting "high growth, high impact" entrepreneurial companies, and getting governments and educational institutions more involved.
Debbage, Danahy and others say the land inventory has improved dramatically in the past year, and that progress has been made with colleges and governments. Just this week, the state said it hopes to grant money for a nanotechnology center developed by UNCG and N.C. A&T on the Millennium Campus near Lee Street and Interstate 40/Business 85.
