Abstract:
The Nano Science and Technology Institute (NSTI) today announced the re-creation of a special symposia on Carbon Nano Tubes to be chaired by Clayton Teague, Director, Federal National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO). The symposia, begun in 2006, will tackle one of the biggest issues in nanotechnology today -- the challenges involved in the manufacture of single wall carbon nano tubes (SWCNTs) and carbon nano tubes (CNT) composites.

NSTI Announces Special Symposia — Assessments and Updates in Overcoming Challenges for Manufacturing Carbon Nano Tubes and Carbon Nano Tubes Composite

SANTA CLARA, CA | Posted on May 8th, 2007

The symposium takes place at the 10th annual NSTI Nanotech 2007 event at the Santa Clara Convention Center, May 21-24, 2007. "This is the premier industry event on carbon nano tubes in the world," said Dr. Bart Romanowicz, Director of the Nano Science and Technology Institute. "This program deals with the core issues surrounding CNTs. Issues like: What purity can be produced today and at what cost? What are the prospects for developing CNT-composites that are far stronger and lighter than any other material? Top scientists from Boeing, NIST, Dupont, NASA Ames Research Center, Zyvex, MIT and Lockheed Martin will spearhead the talks."

This special program is part of a total event that features over 1000 presentations and speakers on virtually every aspect and application of nanotechnology. In addition to the vast conference program, the event showcases almost 300 companies and organizations exhibiting various technologies and tools.

"Each year we bring together leading industry experts from around the globe to share the current state-of-the-industry in nanotechnology. This includes updates as well as breakthroughs on nanotechnology in a forum aimed at ultimately advancing industry and facilitating the benefits of these new small technologies. There are many targeted vertical industry sessions that focus on specific areas, such as nanotechnology in cancer, general health sciences, homeland security, defense, electronics, personal care, and all aspects of materials."

With a multi-industry perspective on corporate R&D and the commercialization and product development of micro and nanotechnologies, plus featured investment strategies by large institutional investors, private equity firms, venture capital and angel investors, this event attracts a technical, industrial and business audience.
