Abstract:
NanoString Technologies, Inc. today announced the appointment of Wayne Burns as Chief Financial Officer and Jonathan Roy as Vice President of Sales.

"Their combined experience will enable us to begin building out the commercial side of the business as we prepare for a product launch in the first half of 2008."

Jonathan Roy added "I am extremely excited about the opportunity to bring the nCounter™ Gene Expression System to market, which we believe represents the only tool capable of highly multiplexed direct quantification of individual mRNAs in a biological sample."
Wayne Burns brings over 20 years of finance and operating experience to Nanostring Technologies. Most recently he served as COO and CFO at Action Engine Corporation. Previously Wayne was a founder and CEO of SafariDog, Inc., which successfully shipped the completed product within 12 months of its inception. Prior to SafariDog, Wayne served as CFO for four venture backed software companies all of which were successfully grown and then acquired by public companies (NetPodium Inc., acquired by InterVu, Elekom Inc., acquired by Clarus Corporation, PrintPaks, Inc., acquired by Mattel Inc., Saros Corporation, acquired by Filenet Corporation.) Wayne has also served as CFO of Renaissance GRX, Inc., a public graphics card manufacturer and CFO of Tyler Refrigeration, Inc. Prior to that Wayne spent 5 years with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the U.S. and Italy. Mr. Burns is a certified public accountant and a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Washington.
Jonathan Roy has been selling in the life science industry for 16 years. He comes to NanoString from Alfa Wassermann Proteomic Technologies, LLC where he was Vice President of Commercial Operations. Previously, Jon held positions as Regional Business Manager, Southeastern U.S. for Roche Applied Science, North American Sales Manager, Molecular Division for DynalBiotech Inc. out of Oslo Norway. Prior to that Jon spent 9 years with Applied Biosystems, Foster City, California where he grew from Sales Representative to Global Pharmaceutical Business Development Manager. Jon holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of New Hampshire.
