Home > Press > Earth Search Sciences Issued Patent on Third-Generation Hyperspectral Imaging Instrument
Abstract:
Instrument is Better, Faster, Less Expensive, and Smaller
-Earth Search Sciences, Inc. (OTCBB:ESSE), a leading commercial provider of revolutionary hyperspectral remote sensing technology, today announced it has been issued a patent on its third-generation imaging instrument, the OmniProbe. The OmniProbe will deliver vastly improved spectral and spatial resolution to a wide range of resource industries at a fraction of the cost of its leading-edge predecessor instrument, Probe 1. In addition, it will provide a greater number of applications for use.
The first generation of hyperspectral instruments weigh 500-plus pounds and are approximately six feet in diameter. Earth Search's new instrument - influenced by nanotechnology and microelectronics (MEMs) - will weigh less than 40 pounds, will be approximately the size of a shoebox, and will attach to virtually any airborne platform. OmniProbe will quickly and accurately map targets of interest from altitudes of 35,000 feet, at speeds of 500 to 600 knots per hour, and will possess telescoping optics to scope down to 6 inch data.
According to Larry Vance, Chairman of Earth Search, this third-generation instrument is destined to surpass Probe 1 in all operating characteristics, including resolution, survey efficiency, data reliability, and substantial signal-to-noise reduction. These advances will allow the company to move forward with the next stage of its strategic business plan. Both designs were developed and are owned by Earth Search Sciences.
"As we move into the next stage of our strategy, our newly-advanced instrument will enable us to joint venture with mineral, hydrocarbon, environmental, and military resource industries to quickly map targets of interest more precisely and economically than any instrument with which we're familiar," said Vance. "We're excited by the potential of OmniProbe to collect and process data that will locate commercial resource opportunities for our customers. We believe that OmniProbe has the potential to further increase shareholder value by adding to our existing data archives at a much faster rate than previously experienced."

About Earth Search Sciences
Earth Search Sciences, Inc.’s (OTCBB:ESSE) revolutionary hyperspectral technology provides the ability to accurately read the chemical properties of surface substances from great altitudes and produce easily interpreted maps allowing the user to identify specific minerals and substances on the surface of the earth by their diagnostic reflectance patterns. Ultimately, this remote sensing capability identifies a greater number of exploration targets quickly and economically, monitors the environmental situation, and improves the probability of finding anomalies. Older, more conventional methods would take decades to cover the same area, and at a much greater cost. Within the realm of exploration, remote sensing does not replace the need for geological knowledge, geochemistry, geophysics, seismic, drilling, etc., which are some of the more conventional tools used for exploration.
