UTD's Daniel and Baughman featured in upcoming KERA production
Abstract:
UTD President David E. Daniel, along with nanotechnologist Ray Baughman (Robert A. Welch Professor of Chemistry and Dir. of UTD's NanoTech Institute), will be featured in a segment of the 13-part KERA series State of Tomorrow to air next Monday (May 7) at 11 p.m.
Dr. Baughman (that's "BACH-man," just in case you're faced with a quiz-show question involving the pronunciation of his name) has been at UTD for six years, having been involved in product development at Honeywell/AlliedSignal prior to entering the academic profession. As a result of his leadership in the field of nanotechnology research, he's becoming something of a media darling: he was recently interviewed on NOVA (regarding his work with carbon nanotubes, which might wind up making it feasible to construct and operate an elevator into space), and he's reportedly being interviewed for an upcoming piece in D Magazine.
