U. of Md. creates institute to study microorganisms
Abstract:
The Maryland Pathogen Research Institute will bring together experts in the biosciences, computational sciences, engineering and nanotechnology to find new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent the spread of pathogens.
Researchers at the institute will use advances in computational biology, for example, to analyze and understand the complex genetic controls that contribute to microorganisms causing disease.
The institute will be housed in the university's new biosciences research building, scheduled to open this summer.
