Startup medtech firm raises $8.5M
Abstract:
IFC Medical, a startup that uses nano-engineering to modify medical devices, said Wednesday that it has raised $8.5 million in capital.
Integrity Partners, a venture-capital firm based in Danville, Calif., and Menlo Park, Calif.-based Draper Fisher Jurvetson led the round. IFC recently established its headquarters in Plymouth.
The firm uses nanotechnology to modify medical devices, such as stents and orthopedic implants, at the atomic level. The technology can, for instance, help prevent tissue from becoming attached to medical devices.
