Expert: The world will undergo 7 revolutions

Abstract:
Changes: Advances in computation, biotechnology, genomics and nanotechnology helped drive change in the past 30 years, bringing genetic mapping, micro-miniaturization of sensors, new medicines and trillions of calculations per second, to name a few.

What's to come: Computing will become faster and more complex than imagined about 25 years ago, when people used calculators the size of shoeboxes. Technology will bring better medicines and therapies. Nanotechnology will provide advances such as molecular switches and smart dust — once considered science fiction.

What it could mean: Those medical advances could mean people live much longer. Living to 120 years would be possible. The deep computing could lead to serious violations of personal privacy. Leaders will need to respond to new ethical questions and public policy issues.
