PDF3D™ Adds View Capture from AVS/Express for 3D PDF Publishing

London, UK | Posted on April 11th, 2007

PDF3D™ technology from Visual Technology Services is now upgraded to integrate with and capture 3D scenes from AVS/Express; a data visualisation system from Advanced Visual Systems Inc., who are widely recognised as specialists in data analysis and visualisation. The capture facility is a giant step towards 3D publishing which harnesses the free Adobe® PDF Reader and Adobe Acrobat®. Integrating the PDF3D SDK toolkit into AVS/Express based applications enables direct publishing of documents containing 3D PDF interactive content, avoiding proprietary viewers.

According to Steve Sukman, Executive Vice President of Advanced Visual Systems, "We are pleased that PDF3D provides our world-wide users of AVS/Express with new level of flexibility for publishing technical reports. Our high-end graphics and visualisation platform generates world-class content, but often sharing that content can be limited. With the new PDF3D capture pathway, our users who adopt PDF3D can now publish freely distributable trusted PDF documents containing interactive samples of their results."

PDF3D™ technology enables the publication of documents containing interactive 3D graphics, harnessing the free Adobe® PDF Reader and U3D standard. Users are able to change viewing angles, scale factors, rotation, transparency and visibility on model parts. With integration into AVS/Express, the application of PDF3D technology for the publication of technical, scientific data now extends from earth and life sciences to medicine, from oil & gas and earth sciences, to nanotechnology and engineering.

Through the PDF3D™ OEM/ISV program, applications based on the AVS/Express platform can be extended to publish, share and distribute interactive models through email or the web. With Adobe's ubiquitous support for 3D viewing PDF files, a ready-made platform is available on most desktops ready to receive 3D content, while avoiding other intermediary file formats or external conversion programs. The view capture system is available immediately as a separate AVS/Express add-on package, directly from Visual Technology Services Ltd.
