Top Innovators From R & D Centers in New Zealand, Taiwan, Korea, and Russia/Ukraine Will Showcase Cutting-Edge Products/Services
Close to 1,000 high technology and life science innovators, venture capital firms, government agency representatives and corporate investors will meet in San Francisco May 1-2 at The Venture Forum's ( http://www.theventureforum.com/ ) annual event to connect early stage innovators with funding sources. Since its inception 13 years ago, The Venture Forum has facilitated $600 million in venture capital, corporate and government investment, thereby helping innovators move high-value technologies closer to commercialization.
The 2007 forum will feature companies that are part of Larta's Global Bridge Program, a fully customized and comprehensive executive training and networking creation program that fosters scientific, technological, and economic cooperation between the U.S. and other countries. Participating Global Bridge companies are organized by pavilions. Highlights include:
New Zealand
New Zealand's Foundation for Research, Science & Technology (FRST), will feature seven outstanding Kiwi companies in the fields of biotechnology, software, nanotechnology, wireless, pharmaceuticals, and physiological monitoring products. The New Zealand companies include Living Cell Technologies Limited, Methodware, Nano Cluster Devices Ltd., Roam AD, and Zephyr Technology Ltd. The New Zealand Pavilion also features research institutions like Auckland UniServices, Canterprise, Otago Innovation, and Waikato Link.
The Foundation for Research, Science and Technology is the largest of the public sector investment agents for research, science and technology (RS&T) in New Zealand. FRST's mission is to stimulate prosperity and improve the well-being of New Zealanders and the environment through investing in innovation and fostering the creation of new knowledge.
Korea
Techno Value/Business Network & Systems Development International (bnsD), in collaboration with Larta Institute will feature 3 companies in the fields of energy, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals. They are Innovation & Ventures, Inc., Panagene, and Polypeptide.
BnsD, headquartered in the U.S., is a technology commercialization firm providing wide spectrum of services and programs, including technology scouting, auditing, assessment, licensing, and partnership development. TechnoValue, located in Korea, is BnsD's Korean affiliate with in-depth knowledge and experiences in technology innovation management consulting services to both the public and private sector clients.
Russia and Ukraine
Larta in collaboration with the United States Industry Coalition (USIC) and the Foundation for Russian American Economic Cooperation (FRAEC) launched Russia-Ukraine-US Global Bridge program in 2006. The program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy is aimed at emerging entrepreneurs from the Russia/Ukraine defense complex. Innovations for this program come from technology institutes' spin-outs and other technology companies that have been funded by the Global Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention Program (GIPP) of the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.
Six companies are being featured in the fields of diagnostics, nanotechnology, software, and materials. They are Attometrix Ltd., BIOCHIP-IMP Ltd., International Center for Electron Beam Technologies, Kinetic Technologies Ltd. (Kintech), Nanocenter, and Sarov Laboratories.
Taiwan
The Institute for Information Industry (III) partnered with Larta Institute in their mission to grow and strengthen Taiwan's information industry development and promote their most innovative spin-outs.
Five Taiwan Pavilion companies will be showcased at this year's Venture Forum. They are in the fields of wireless, media technology, software, and biotechnology. The companies are AirDio Wireless Inc., IAdea Corporation, OleMap Inc., United Biomedical, Inc., and XCome Technology Ltd.
The Institute for Information Industry (III) was established in 1979 as a non-profit organization, jointly sponsored by the Taiwan government and dozens of prominent private enterprises, for the purpose of growing and strengthening Taiwan's information industry development. Since its inception, III has been a source of vision, creativity and technological advancement, and a major contributor to Taiwan's development into a world-class player in the ICT global market.
